Roughed In

You always hear that the hardest part of painting is starting.  I disagree.  I think painters make paintings because they are addicted to the rush of starting.  When the work is nothing more than a bare skeleton of loose lines draped with a few patches of color and odd "notes to self" every square inch is pure potential.

    So very true. Starting is the fun part. Finishing is the hard work.

    The artist Yoshitomo Nara upon finishing a body of work wipes down his whole space and hangs a piece of paper with the quote "never forget your beginners spirit" I've always loved that.
